Product Review: Xtra Laundry Soap

Okay recently I got curious about all the different laundry soaps since CVS has and Fry’s recently had laundry soap really cheap and sometimes I can’t justify being a loyal Tide girl. I mean seriously Tide is the most expensive and they only give out $.50 coupons, although I did recently find a $2 off Tide coupon in my Bounty sheets box but still. So anyways, I went to the message boards to ask for some opinions on Xtra laundry soap. There wasn’t a huge response and I guess because like me most never gave it a chance. Well I decided to buy and thought if it doesn’t work out that it could be used for something in due time.

Here is my review of Xtra:

  • Price: A
    I mean come on $1.50 w/no coupon isn’t a bad deal.
  • Scent: C
It smelled alright before hand but if you’re looking for long lasting scent it left a faint clean smell but nothing to brag about unless you prefer it that way. Even after working in a hot environment it still smelled slightly clean where as my Tide wouldn’t smell so fresh after working.
  • Clean: B
I have to say it cleaned those untreated deodorant marks completely, something Tide never did if untreated. I’m rather impressed.

Overall I would give Xtra a B- rating as I was impressed with it compared to my Tide. I do wish they had a better variety of scents, I purchased Spring Sunshine as it was the only one in store that appealed to my nose. So if you’re ever on a tight budget and want a cheap and efficient laundry soap I suggest you pick up a bottle Xtra the next time you see it on sale for when times are tight.

Thanks for the information. I bought 150 ounces the other day for $6.99. Just couldn’t pass up that deal. I used to use Tide, then switched to Kirkland. But, soap is soap….I hope.

Another one I use regularly is Purex. I got it last week at Walgreens for $0.99 a bottle after coupon. It’s on sale at Fry’s (Kroger) for $1.99 which after coupon($1/1 Purex Detergent or Laundry Sheets, exp. 5-7 (RP 03/13/11)) it’s only $0.99 for the 50 oz bottle. Less than 3 bucks for 150oz (50oz x 3). :)
